Evaluate How Your Packaging Materials Behave In Moist Conditions

Packaging is an important thing that helps to protect the quality of the products. Hence, it is necessary to produce high-quality of packaging material. There are various factors and properties that enhance the quality of packaging products like compression strength of boards, drop strength, the coefficient of friction, water absorbent efficiency, and many more. Out of the mentioned properties, water absorbency or liquid penetration of a material is calculated to measure the sizing and porosity of the single layered boards, papers, etc. It is a major issue which is concerned with the safety of the product from moist conditions. If a paper or a board absorbs sufficient amount of water, it will not be considered to be used in the paper& packaging industry to manufacture a carton or box. This property can be tested efficiently with the help of a testing instrument, “Presto’s Cobb Sizing Tester”

It is the best testing device that measures the resilience property and water absorption property of treated or untreated papers and boards and other related materials under some given conditions.   The test with the help of Cobb Sizing tester can be performed easily to determine its liquid penetration property. To perform the test, take the weight of the paper and then place a piece of cardboard in a cylindrical tube and then pour 100cc of liquid in the cylinder. Leave the specimen for a given period of time.  Now drain out the liquid and weight the specimen after draining out the extra water from the specimen. Now compare the result. The test will give you an accurate measurement to analyze the water absorbing potency of the board.
