ASTM D1776 / D1776M - 15 Standard For Conditioning And Testing

The ASTM D1776/D1776M standard practice includes the testing and conditioning of the textiles. The practice is applicable where conditioning is specified in test procedures. A standard method is provided for the materials require preconditioning when defined as prior exposure of textile to low humidity or high humidity can affect the moisture pickup.
The designation number of ASTM identifies a unique version of an ASTM standard, for example, D is for miscellaneous materials, 1776 is assigned a sequential number, M is SI units, and 15 is the year of original adoption or year of last revision (in case of a change or revision).
The conditioning and testing of textiles are performed using the conditioningchamber (or humidity chamber), preconditioning cabinet, etc. The conditioning chamber maintains the standard atmosphere for textile throughout the chamber within the tolerance given. The testing equipment must allow air circulation all over surfaces of the exposed specimen. The device must have the equipment to record the temperature and humidity of the air in the chamber. The following points must be noted:
·         If preconditioning is required, keep the samples to a relatively low moisture content in a specified atmosphere.
·         If conditioning is required, keep the samples to moisture equilibrium for testing in the standard atmosphere for testing textiles (or when required).

Conditioning Chambers complies with ASTM D1776 / D1776M - 15 Standard

Presto offers the conditioning chambers with all the latest technology that creates the designated temperature. The equipment has lowest heat ratio as it has a high quality of insulation with imported glass wool. The high-speed instant cooling is provided as the chamber has a sealed compressor unit. The system is designed by considering the comfort of the end users to operate without any difficulty. The instrument has complete digital controls. The conditioning chambers are suitable for different industries such as automotive, pipes, plastics, woven sack, resins, flexible packaging, etc. The quality of fasteners, wood, ceramic, springs is tested, besides textiles.

The ASTM D1776/D1776M standard practice is currently not active. It was adopted in the year 2015. The ASTM D1776 / D1776M - 16 standard is currently active.
